An Open Migration

Created, and finalist in, the 2019 Geohipster Calendar competition. This map shows the attendees of FOSS4G Oceania 2020. I am very inspired by Chales Joseph Minards style and want to reproduces the flowing curves and clarity of his migration maps, whilst adding a bit of fun to it. A very rough version was first produced for attendees of a QGIS user conference in Coruna. The second map was recreated using numbers very close to the final attendance with the colours from the conference logo, and was used in one fo the open talks.
